A/Prof Michael Jameson

Assoc. Prof. Michael Jameson FRACP FRCP (Edin.) PhD is a Consultant Medical Oncologist since 2000 at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand and Assistant Dean since 2016 at the Waikato Clinical Campus, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, University of Auckland, New Zealand. His clinical training was undertaken in NZ and the UK, including a year at the Royal Marsden Hospital, Fulham. His gained his PhD through a research fellowship conducting a Cancer Research Campaign UK phase I trial of DMXAA. His predominant research interests are in repurposing drugs in oncology, with current investigator-initiated trials in rectal, gastrointestinal and head and neck cancer. He is Study Chair and co-PI of the HRC-funded randomised controlled phase 2 SPAR trial, evaluating the addition of simvastatin to long-course chemoradiation for rectal cancer. He was an invited speaker at a joint multidisciplinary panel discussion on Total Neoadjuvant Therapy in locally-advanced rectal carcinoma at the annual Australian Gastrointestinal Trials Group (AGITG) annual scientific meeting on 15/11/2022.
